MIT Association of Japan - Presidential Address
A Message from the President
XXII B.S., M.S., f83, Sc.D., e86
Edwards Lifesciences Limited
MIT Association of Japan has diverse array of people. Not limited to undergraduate alumni, its members include graduates from PhD and masterfs programs, as well as researchers, professors, and short program participants from a range of disciplines. The organization has approximately 1900 members, making it second in size only to the US alumni association.
MIT Associationfs main goal is to provide the members various opportunities to get to know each other and to continue to have some connection to MIT. It is run by volunteers from the members of the Association, the board being organized by Officers, Auditors, Trustees and Administration staff. There are several events annually for all the members such as lecture meetings, social gatherings as well as the Annual General Meeting. In addition, the association is actively having different type of activities to pursue the goal of the organization.
From February 2016, I became the President of the Association, and started the year with new members of the board. President Reif described MIT as eIt is a special place, which takes seriously its mission to take on the most difficult challenges to make the world better.f As the Association consisting of members in Japan with ties to MIT, I would like us take President Reiffs message to heart, and support the strengthening of Japanfs ability to innovate, and to support the education of global citizens from Japan, in addition to offering fun and meaningful events.
I hope that you share my enthusiasm for what this organization can become, and ask that you provide whatever support you can.
